The World Book

The World Book is a holy artifact of sorts, summoned by the Nornir using the World Map Tower. It's said that this book contains all the secrets of the world, the history of the gods, and that it even has the power to end life itself. It's no surprise then that it has been sought by many a powerful sorcerer, as it's believed that this book could lead them to the true magic of the gods.

History

Summoning:

200 years before the story begins, the Wyrd Dragons, known as the Nornir built the World Map Tower as a gift for their descendents. They then used the Tower, through much cost and sacrifice, to summon a single book, the World Book.

The Sand War:

After the book was summoned, it remained in the World Map Tower for over 100 years. This was due to the Decree of the Goddess, which forbade the violation of any orders established to protect the Fenrir Forest and its surrounding territories, which at the time included the location of the World Map Tower. It was strictly forbidden for anyone to enter the Tower, at that time, but sorcerers dared to do so anyway. The resulting fallout saw the total collapse of Taphrem City. Though Kimrak ultimately lost the war, they succeeded in retrieving the book.

Theft:

After the war, the World Book was held by the Browning Family, the most prestigious family of the head teachers of Kimrak. There it remained as a sacred treasure of the Church for almost 50 years until it was stolen. The thief, whoever they were, ended up selling the book off somewhere, and it disappeared on the black market for years. In reality, it had stayed there for four years before reaching the Dragon Worshippers of Taphrem. Unlike the thief before them, the Dragon Worshippers could read some of the ancient texts and instantly recognized the book's significance.

War to Acquire:

When the Whurl Class caught word that the book had fallen into the hands of humans, they didn't hesitate to launch an attack on a Dragon Faith meeting. They found that the members of this group had already been interrogated, and decided to kill every member of the gathering to prevent the further spread of information. Through their interrogations, they discovered that Childman had made a deal with the worshippers 5 years prior to get ahold of the book. The book had already been removed from his residence by Majic, and when violent confrontations broke out over the book, a fake was created and given to Majic instead. He lost the fake to Suaine, while Orphen gave the real book to two unlikely candidates: Vulcan and Dortin. All he asked was that they sell it for some cash and repay their debts.
