"Beast, Answer My Call!" V1 - Afterword
Hi! I'm Mariabelle—and I'll be covering the chat at the end of the boooook!
..... You're so much more excited than you were in the actual story—
What would you do without me, though? Anyway, please introduce yourself.
... Yeah, yeah. It's nice to meet you, everyone. My name is Akita.
... You're not very polite, you know that?
Actuallyyyy...
Well nevermind... its been almost two years since your previous work.
Yeah, and as expected, a lot of people have forgotten my name.
Even before that, not a lot of people knew about you, right?
... You're not wrong.
But — Your name is rather unusual anyway.
Unusual...? It's not like there are rules when it comes to names.
I can't even read those letters. Was it Teishin? I doubt anyone who owns the book can even properly pronounce it.
By the way, 'Sadanobu' is wrong.
See the index for the correct answer.
Actually, there was a time when I was thinking about using another pen name.
... Really? I've got a bad feeling about that... what sort of pen name?
The kanji for Opportunistic but spoken like Hinata Kazumi, Hinoeuma Pen Gogo, etc. I also tried stuff similar to the ring names of fighters, like Randoseru 10,000 Year Manager, High Heel Shiny Hair... I even thought about the name A Cat of Flanders, like the novel.
... I'm going back to my parent's house.
Where? It's not here.
Anyway... What took you so long? Surely you didn't spend two whole years writing this story, right?
That's right.
So what were you doing?
Thinking of a pen name. Pokkuri For Life, Rummenigge Weight Scale, etc.
Do you have any regrets about wasting two years of your youth like that?
Hey, I also wrote a proper story.
... What kind?
Like I Can't Stop My Nose Hair From Growing! and Winter Landscales on the Sea of Gibraltar.
You—...
Well anyway, the fact that ~This Guy~ was able to finish this project without incident is entirely due to the help of everyone who supported him.
Oh, so you do have a little humility in you.
Did you know the word Humble means False?
What a jerk.
Heheheh. Anyway, I'd like to thank everyone who was involved in the writing of this manuscript. Kitamura-kun, who works part time at a bookstore in Nishiogikubo; Yanagido-kun, who was laughing by himself while licking bare lightbulbs in Meguro earlier today; and Sumipon-kun, who got drunk and out of control, then destroyed the public restroom and disappeared without a trace.
... You don't have many friends, do you?
You're so annoying. I'd also like to thank S, O, K, and Yamashita, and Sawano for taking care of me in that seminar. I love you, Fidan-san (laughs). The people at Ishimaru Furniture in Atsugi, where I had a part-time job. Let's see... And the door-to-door salesman who I don't know the name of! The green-faced guy who often peeks into my room from the outside window!
I'm starting to think you're a liar.
(Not listening) And of course, there's also M, the editor, and Kusaka-san, who did the illustrations, and everyone else who worked on this book! And finally, to those of you who are holding this book in your hands—
Thank you very much.
——Yoshinobu Akita
