A reserved man, Forte is a former student of Childman Powderfield. He doesn't spend much time in the spotlight, but operates constantly in the background, trying his best to fill his Master's shoes in the Tower of Fang.
Personality
By and large, Forte is an extremely reserved person. He doesn't react to much, and his responses to others are usually straight and to the point with as few words as possible. However, though he tries to hide this side of himself, Forte seems to greatly admire his former Master, and mimics him in every way he can. This extends from how he styles his hair, to how he behaves, and even the actions he chooses to take in the Tower, which he believes mirror what his Master would do.
In spite of his stoic exterior, Forte shows some of the greatest emotional depth of the Childman students. Collecting momentos of friends now gone, and surrounding himself with memories of the past. He still occupies the Childman classroom as his office, and kept momentos of his former classmates. Their lockers remain in the room, the names never removed.
Appearance
Forte is described as a tall man with long black hair, which he ties at the back of his neck, and black eyes. Leticia believes this to be an attempt to mimic Childman, but it's also a violation of the Tower's hair regulations. He has a blocky physique overall.
Aside from his basic appearance, Forte's war-time combat gear consists of medium-weight protective armor, two armored belts, two longswords of different sizes, a cuirass wrapped in chains that hold blades, and a cloak worn over his armor interwoven with chainmail.
History
Establishment of the Childman Class:
Forte was one of 7 students chosen for the Childman Class, and though he wasn't top of the class, he was made the Teacher's Assistant almost immediately. At this time, he became certified as a senior sorcerer. It was rumored that Leticia would've been the Teacher's Assistant if she wasn't so hysterical.
Acquisition of the Childman Class:
After Childman went missing, Forte became the impromptu leader of the Childman Class, trading his robes as head of the class for those of a master. However, the class had almost entirely disbanded, so this doesn't seem to have mattered much. Though he was technically a teacher's assistant, he still wore the robe of a teacher, with its double silver lines. While he had gained some authority, he insisted on handling most matters himself, as he felt that it would improve his standing in the Tower, even at the risk of death to these unnamed threats.
Krylancelo's Return:
When rumors spread throughout Taphrem that Krylancelo had returned, and was killing the Elders, Forte relied on his Network to track and identify the assassin. Although he failed to identify Krylancelo directly, he was able to identify Azalie, who accompanied him, and deduced that the assassin was the former student of the Tower of Fang, and his former classmate. He deligated the task of handling Krylancelo to Leticia, who ultimately discovered that it was a fake.
Move For Power:
As Forte tried to increase his influence within the Tower of Fang, he faced a great number of adversaries, with the Whurl Class being deemed to be one of the worst. Not only did he have assassins applying to jobs he was seeking, but he also had outright assassination attempts. He started to suspect the Whurl Class when a large group of Dragon Faith members was slaughtered, using techniques that he thought may be a professional assassin trying to make the murders look like amateur work. As the teacher of the only assassin class in the Tower, this obviously cast a suspicious light on Whurl.
Forte decided to stay back, allowing Krylancelo to infiltrate the Tower and take on the Whurl Classroom. When matters grew too intense, he rallied the Tower guards and apprehended Hydrant, who Orphen had already defeated. While Orphen took on the rest of the class, he implored the grievously wounded, and certainly guilty Hydrant to sign an Executive Order indicating his former classmates and master in the crimes against the Tower. This gave him the freedom to arrest Whurl, his students, and to question them in connection with the crimes. Arriving in the middle of the fight, he killed one student outright after determining him to be an aggressor, then with the help of Azalie and Orphen, apprehended the rest of the class.
End of the Whurl Class:
With the Whurl Classroom disbanded, Forte had only one task left: To interview his potential apprentice, Majic. Yet, as he realized Majic only wanted to join the Tower to support Orphen, he encouraged him to continue his journey, in his own, roundabout way. He gave Majic Orphen's pendant, which he'd personally dug out of the garbage after the Executive Department decided to exile the rogue sorcerer, and Azalie's pendant. He reminded Majic that surrendering these pendants would be seen poorly by the Tower, and that if he wished to do so, he shouldn't ever come back. This was a clear message that Majic had to choose where he truly belonged, and in the end, he chose Orphen. This was one of the few times that Forte showed any genuine emotion, making this decision out of the pain he had felt when his former class fell apart.
Skills
Perception:
Mayor seems to be quite good at reading people, or at least Leticia, and often cuts her off to finish her sentences. It's unclear if this goes into the realm of an actual ability, or is just that he has a keen observation of his classmates.
The Childman Network:
Each of Childman's students were taught a specific skill, and in Forte's case, this was the ability to access and make use of the Childman Network, a special information network. In spite of this, he lacks the self control to manage the sheer volume of information that this network provides him.
Infantry:
Forte proved to be decent at infantry combat when he faced off against the Whurl Class. He was able to hit a quickly moving sorcerer from the doorway with a spear, landing it through the man's eye socket while he was engaged in combat with Orphen.
Assorted Facts
• Forte's name seems like an intentional reference to Buckingham Palace, which has almost the same kana.
• Forte shares the Tower's anxieties about the Apostles, and keeps constant surveillance on them.
• One of the few times Forte's stoic mask faltered was when he admitted to finding out that Childman was dead.
