The Kimrak Church

The Kimrak Church is composed of members who worship the Wyrd Sisters, also known as the three goddesses of fate. Although the headquarters is located in the City of Kimrak, it's said to control all other branches of the church across the continent. What it's most noted for in the series, however, is perhaps its long-standing resentment of sorcerers.

Known Church Locations:

 - Taphrem

- Aggression Towards Sorcerers

The Kimrak Church is pretty up-front about its distaste for sorcerers. Although the exact reason is not known, like much of the Dragon Faith, this hatred runs so deep that there are even followers who outright deny the existence of human sorcerers. The further north one travels, the stronger the church's influence grows, and it's said that sorcerers who want to live should never travel north of Taphrem.

- Teachers of Death

The Kimrak Church commands a unit of assassins referred to as Teachers of Death, who serve directly under the Church's command. While the church is outspoken about its intent to use these assassins to killing high-profile sorcerers, very few actually succeed. A human is simply no match for a sorcerer, and it's hard to get the jump on them. Most often, their services are actually employed to kill those who act against the church, including handling deserters and heretics. Few, if any well-known sorcerers have actually been taken out by this group.

Glass Swords

Glass swords, of which there are only eight on the continent, are symbolic of the Teachers of Death. They're made of a special hardened glass that barely reflect light. The end result is a durable sword that is almost invisible to the eye. If the wielder is holding still, the blade is barely visible, and if they start moving at high speed, it becomes almost impossible to keep track of the blade with the naked eye, making it easy to underestimate its reach. This gives the wielder an opening to cause grievous harm to the target. One of these glass swords is known to be Salua's primary weapon.

- Distaste Towards Other Faiths

Like many religions, the Kimrak Church looks poorly upon other religions. In particular, the worship of Swedenboli, who was said to want to have gone to war with the other gods in hopes of becoming the one and only god. This meant destroying that which the church worshipped, the Goddesses of Fate. The church's widespread influence across Kiesalhima has allowed them to ban some forms of religious worship, including the creation of statues symbolizing his minions. The one case in which they couldn't act against was the Kamisunda Theater's Angel and Demon statue. Because the church gained its status as the state church of the royal kingdom by aligning with the aristocracy, and the royal family had bestowed custom plaques to the statues, they couldn't speak up against them without speaking up against the royal family.

History

Founding of the Church:

The Kimrak Church was formed several hundred years before the story begins. The leader at the time, Ramonirok, appealed for the protection (or rather, inviolability) of the Fenrir Forest. This agreement, known as the "Decree of the Goddess," has been upheld by Kimrak and the Aristocratic Federation ever since. Both have respected this order, and tresspassers are generally considered to be held accountable under the jurisdiction of Kimrak.
