Related Characters:
  Hydrant (Former Classmate)
  Vinvi Stottaul (Classmate)
  Whurl Karlen (Master)

Suaine is a student of the Whurl Karlen classroom, and among Whurl's students, he seems to be highly trusted. This is indicated by the fact that he was given numerous missions throughout the book, compared to others.

Personality

Suaine is quite subdued. Though he follows orders, he's a lot more cautious than Hydrant, and never steps outside of his given task. Whenever given the opportunity to do so, he takes the more peaceful and overall less conspicuous path, but isn't afraid to fight with deadly force whenever the situation calls for it.

Appearance

Suaine has quite the petite stature, often described as looking almost like a kid with an overall lightweight build. This is contrary to the Stray Journey anime series, which depicted him as a larger, bulkier man, and parted out some of his Stabber tasks to other characters.

History

Searching For The World Book:

When Whurl Karlen set his eyes on the World Book, he enlisted his students, current and old to obtain it for him. The class had learned that the book had ended up in the McCready Mansion, and Suaine was sent to sneak in and find it. Only, he was intercepted by Orphen, who having thwarted many a mock night-battle with Cleao over the recent nights, mistook him for his friend. Sure enough, Cleao showed up soon after, giving Suaine the opportunity he needed to bail out of the window and escape.

Interrogation of Leticia McCready:

Having failed before, their next mission was to interrogate members of the Childman Class. Suaine hoped to draw Orphen into a trap by attacking Cleao with a superficial wound, then dashing into the alleys of Taphrem. Leticia, fearing that Orphen would be cast out by the Elders if he got involved, followed in pursuit instead. Suaine accepted this and continued on to their expected meeting point, where Hydrant lay in wait.

The two ganged up on the senior sorcerer, but Hydrant took things too far when, in his vengeful state of mind, he cut off two of Leticia's fingers. This was already more than they were supposed to do in terms of interrogation, and Suaine swiftly moved to reprimand Hydrant, who simply didn't care about the transgression. As he argued his points against Hydrant, the meeting was broken up by the reappearance of Azalie, who had up until this point been presumed dead. Suaine and Hydrant retreated, not prepared to take her on, and instead reported this information to Whurl.

The Final Move:

With a senior sorcerer now having a solid case against the Whurl Class, Suaine and his colleagues were left with no other choice than to act before the Elders found out about the incident. So, they set out to kill the few night guards and mobilize from the Tower. This plan was complicated when Hydrant, once again showing off in the name of revenge, set off a large detonation that drew the attention of others in the Tower. Suaine and Vinvi jumped into the room following the explosion, but Leki, mistaking Suaine for Orphen, teleported him elsewhere to save him from the fire.

To his great surprise, he was teleported into an office building with Majic, no Orphen in sight. This made his job considerably easier, as during the course of the battle, Majic dropped the World Book, which Suaine had been specifically trusted to retrieve. The sorcerers faced off once more, until the fight was interrupted by Forte Packingum. After taking three Light spells, Suaine, now severely wounded, decided to retreat. He blasted through the wall, making his escape and returning to the Whurl Classroom. Though he succeeded in returning the (fake) World Book, he succumbed to his wounds, dead before the final battle kicked off.

Skills

Stabber Skills:

As a member of the Whurl Classroom, Suaine is well trained in assassination techniques.
